goals

There are so many tasks that I want to accomplish this year. The trouble is that I work during the day and night and the time for accomplishing what I want to do. I’m hoping once I go down to one job, a day job, that more creativity will flow from me. There are multiple outlets that I want to be more involved in, but just can’t seem to find the time for. More to come soon.

top ten albums of ‘08 (a little late)

mgmt10. MGMT – Oracular Spectacular

“One of the most catchy, dancy albums of the year.”

top tracks: Time to Pretend, Kids, Electric Feel, and The Handshake.

matesofstate9. Mates of State – Re-Arrange Us

“My favorite husband and wife couple band. They have so much passion and energy when they play together, that you cant help but be excited by hearing them.”

top tracks: Help Help, The Re-arranger, and Get Better

fleetfoxes8. Fleet Foxes – Fleet Foxes

“This album actually took me a long time to get into. I wasn’t a huge Fleet Foxes fan until about a month ago. I probably had to listen to the album about 8 times before I really felt it. With that being said, critics and friends who love this album proved me wrong. It is great”

top tracks: The entire album as a whole, but also Blue Ridge Mountains.

santogold7. Santogold – Santogold

“I heard of Santogold from my friend Megan Sargeant. I’m very greatful to her, because this album is great. It’s seriously fun to just groove out to. You might know her from the song Lights Out from the Bud Light Lime commercial but she isn’t as commercial as she sounds there.”

top tracks: You’ll Find a Way, L.E.S. Artistes, and Creator.

raconteurs6. The Raconteurs – Consolers of the Lonely

“This is the album that sold me on the Raconteurs. I wasn’t a huge fan until I heard this album. Jack White creates some amazing riffs on guitar as well as melodies that will stay in your head for weeks.”

top tracks: Salute Your Solution, Old Enough, Attention, and Top Yourself.

sigurros5. Sigur Rós – Með Suð í Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaust

“This isn’t my favorite Sigur Rós album of all time, but it is definitely worthy to go in my top ten from this past year. The boys choir at the end of Ára Bátur is one of my favorite moments from anything they’ve done. I feel more emotion from them than any other band I’ve ever heard, and I still can’t wait to see them in concert…”

top tracks: Ára Bátur, Inní Mér Syngur Vitleysingur, Festival, Fljótavík

anathallo4. Anathallo – Canopy Glow

“There’s one thing that Michigan has going for them, and it is music from the likes of Anathallo and Sufjan Stevens. Between the mixture of multiple percussion, horns, and bells, something flows throughout their music, and it continues on this album.”

top tracks: Cafetorium, All the First Pages, The River, and Noni’s Field

kingsofleon3. Kings of Leon – Only by the Night

“It’s hard to believe that i have some friends that don’t like this album. The first time I heard Sex on Fire, i couldn’t wait for this album to come out. It obviously didn’t disappoint me. I admit that their sound is more polished and less gritty than previous albums, but I refuse to fault them for that.”

top tracks: Sex on Fire, Revelry, Cold Desert, and Be Somebody

m832. M83 – Saturdays = Youth

“80’s. Saturdays = Youth is an album that when I listen to it, I’m taken to another place. That place is somewhere between the eighties and outer space. I get lost in this album, and time seems to pass me by. Absolutely brilliant in my opinion.”

top tracks: Graveyard Girl, We Own the Sky, Kim & Jessie, and Up!

boniver1. Bon Iver – For Emma, Forever Ago

“Like Fleet Foxes, this album took a little for me to realize how amazing it is. It happened one day as I was driving. I was listening to the radio, and re: stacks came on. There were trees all around, and it was dusk. I guess it was just the right time, because after that track I listened to the rest of the  album and fell in love. The feeling hasnt left me.

top tracks: re: stacks, Skinny Love, Flume, and Blindsided.
